I said to watch this space for updates on those Gator juniors who had decided to stay at the University for their Senior year or jump to the NFL with one year of eligibility left.
Tim Tebow, of course, announced his intention to stay during last Sunday's Celebration in the Swamp, but Gator Nation has been on pins and needles all week waiting for a decision by Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes.
The decisions were announced yesterday.
One prominent Florida player is going, another is staying with the BCS champion Gators.
Junior wide receiver Percy Harvin announced Thursday that he will enter the NFL draft, while All-American linebacker Brandon Spikes said he will return for his senior season.
I'm not shocked that Percy is going. He should be taken fairly high in the draft and I have felt all year that a BCS win would send him away. Heck, probably just the SEC win would have done it for him, if he had played in the SEC Championship game. Percy is an amazing, dynamic player with incredible speed who will be a bonus to whichever NFL team drafts him. But Gator Nation is going to miss him.
Of course, I am happy that Brandon Spikes is returning. He was the heart and soul and leader of the defense this year and his return means all 11 starters will be around for the 2009 season. Pretty impressive.
So, of the 3 possible team members who could have gone early, only 1 did.
I'm ok with those numbers. Let the Countdown to Kickoff begin!

Wow, what a game!

Best Play: Ahmad Black's 2nd half interception
It was a great game. Although I am certain the Sooners are not happy this morning, they don't have any reason to be ashamed. They played beautifully. They were just outplayed.
And it was a National Championship game for the ages. Two high octane offensive teams who were held to 24 and 14 points respectively. A defense (Oklahoma's) who was not ranked very high managing 2 interceptions on a quarterback who had only thrown 2 in his previous 13 games.
Officials who seemed to not be paying close attention to much of anything. Although Tebow's unsportsmanlike conduct call kind of tickled me, and seemed to be a fair call, Louis Murphy's was ridiculous. And I do not remember more than one holding call the entire game and there was blatant holding throughout. They did seem to be fair on their lack of calls though, except for Murhpy's, they weren't calling much on either team. (Do you think they knew there were other possible calls out there besides 'false start?')
My heart was in my throat for most of the game. Only at the end, with a 10 point lead and possession of the ball, was I able to relax.
I am so proud to be a Gator fan.
And now I start the countdown to the 2009 season!

**Yes, I understand that others have a legitimate beef with the system. Texas, USC and, especially, Utah all had a right to play in last night's game and be declared Champions. But the system is broken and, since my team won, I am just going to enjoy it!

Less Than 12 Hours until Kickoff!
I am ready. Dressed in my #1 jersey (Percy Harvin's) at work, with my blue/orange scrunchy in my hair. I bounce between euphoric and nauseous, just like all the other games!
I hope these people know me well enough to understand that I will not be accomplishing much today.

Counting Down to Kickoff!
I know there are important things going on in the real world. I know the Middle East is at war. Again? Still?
I know that the new President will take office in less than 2 weeks. (Thank goodness!)
I know that the economy is in the toilet, and it isn't looking like there is a quick fix or a fast turnaround.
BUT, kickoff for the NCAA Division 1A (FBS) Championship in Miami, FL is in just under 25 1/2 hours away.
This year's game is between the #1 Oklamhoma Sooners and the #2 FLORIDA GATORS!
GO GATORS!
There is much speculation about how this game will be played out.
Will Florida be able to stop the Sooners' no-huddle high octane offense?
Will the Sooners be able to score on Florida's young, but effective, defense?
Will Tim Tebow prove that he should have beat Sam Bradford for the Heisman?
The last 2 years' National Championship games were not, well, competitive. Not for 60 minutes anyway. Will this year's be? Are we going to enjoy an Alabama/Florida like game? Or one like USC/Penn State?
I don't have answers. But I can tell you that I won't get a lot of sleep tonight and I will probably not accomplish a lot at work tomorrow.
I would like to say that I would live blog the game, but I would probably end up throwing the computer.
So I will say that I hope NO ONE gets hurt.
And that the Gators spank the Sooners into the ground to win their 2nd Championship in 3 years.

The Beginning of 2009
I managed to spend the entire first three days of 2009 either playing video games on my pc or watching college football. How lovely to just let my brain and body rest and relax and rejuvinate.
After reading the news and the blogs, maybe I just wanted to stay with my head in the sand, though. I've come out of my self-induced news coma to discover that Israel has started a ground war in the Gaza and over 400 Palestinians are dead. And the White House is supporting Israel or, at least, not condemning them. And I still don't understand why the Israelis are so pissed off.
On the homefront, however, things are not bad. BabyBoy has managed to secure very, very part time work and has friends who want him to move in rent free. He says he will be out of here in a week. While the thought of him living somewhere else makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little, he is almost 20 and it will probably be good for him. I am hoping that this dose of the Real World (the real one, not the TV show) will wake him up some and he will focus more on school in the upcoming semesters. I am guessing he will move out for 2 - 3 months and then return home for a while. But that gives us time to remodel the main bathroom while he is out of the house. (Us being DSD with me making runs to and from the hardware store.)
And (knock on wood) I may in the money for the end of year Bowl football pool. While the weekly pool has 10 games with a $5.00 entry fee, the Bowl pool has 20 with a $10 entry fee. Our friends who run the pool are out of town and have been since about Dec 20, so they asked DSD if he would collect money and papers from those who had not had a chance to enter before they left. I went through the ones he had gathered on Friday night and there is no chance that any of them can beat me, even if I lose the last 2 games (Ohio State & Texas, Florida & Oklahoma). So far I am 14-4, thanks to the SEC's Vanderbilt and Ole Miss pulling out amazing wins. I won the entire thing two years ago to the tune of $320.00. That would be a nice New Year's bonus this year!

Barack Obama Makes the Tough Decisions
I know we are in the middle of the worst economic crisis in almost a hundred years. I know that we are in an illegal war where men, women and children are dying and are hemorrhaging money like there is no tomorrow. But President-elect Obama knows how to guarantee my vote in his NEXT election, if he can just get this done!*
This was apparently part of his Monday Night Football interview on 3 November, which I missed, but it was replayed this morning on ESPN's GameDay with Chris, Kirk and Lee.
*Really, I am joking. I can live with the BCS throughout his entire FIRST term if the can get us out of Iraq and turn the economy around. I expect playoffs in his second term though!

Anniversary Trip + a quick Obama story
DSD and I talked about going out of town for our anniversary, but we didn't want to spend too much money (so California wine country was out) and it was our weekend to have his son and working with the boy's mother is not always easy. So, we decided we would just wait and see what came up.
And he surprised me with tickets to KY @ UF tickets in Gainesville on the 25th! He thought this was be fun and sentimental. (Don't tell him I would have rather gone to Jacksonville this weekend for UF/UGA, it would hurt his feelings. But it will be a MUCH better ballgame.)
Then we found out that the KY @ UF game was Homecoming for UF. Homecoming? Fun! Parades and pagents and pep rallies, Oh My!
Well, the pagent was held earlier in the month. And the parade was at 12 EDT, so we weren't going to make it. But the pep rally (called the Gator Growl) was at 7pm and we could make that. Tickets were $20 each, but we felt it would be worth it for The Steve Miller Band alone.
I'm really glad we went. It was fun, but I think it was one of those things that I will not be required to do again in this lifetime.
The best part, though, was during the part called "Growl News." During the entire pep rally there were videos of former Gators or famous Floridians who spoke about how great the Gators are, how much they were supporting the team, the school, etc. Many (present and former politicians) spoke of how important this election is and how each of us need to vote. But at the end of each video (1 - 2 minutes) the person said, "Let the Gator Growl."
"Growl News" seemed to be a take-off of SNL's "Weekend Update." There was a cute Top 10 list and a bunch of stuff that only the current students seemed to get. Then, at the end, up popped John McCain on the video. There was A LOT of noise in the stadium! Much clapping and yelling and whistling. It was disheartening. McLame spoke of voting and blah, blah, blah and, of course, "Let the Gator Growl."
The "News" team then began to sign off, but there was SUDDENLY breaking news. Someone rushed out and put some paper on the desk and everyone became very energized and then, there he was, the next President of the United States (on video, of course) and I.didn't.hear.a.word.he.said! Except for "Let the Gator Growl." The stadium absolutely lost its mind and it didn't quiet down until he was almost finished. That was the most noise I heard in there all night. More than for Coach Meyer, more than for the Steve Miller Band, more than for the comedian (who was funny, but I can't remember his name) and much, much, much more than for McSame. It was a beautiful moment. And, an enlightening one. If the Gator Growl was any indication of the way people are voting in Florida, Obama will win in a landslide.
On Saturday, of course, Florida routed Kentucky 63-5. I enjoyed the game, the atmosphere, the other fans. But I think my favorite part was listening to the noise the crowd made, not for an entire football team, but for one great man.

Monday General Thoughts
After four entire days off DSD is getting antsy. He is working on his resume right now and has started the networking process. Hopefully he will find something soon. Financially we will be fine for quite a while, but I don't know how he will be mentally and emotionally. He likes to work.

Not a great weekend for college football in our house. My Gators didn't play; his Buckeyes took a shellacking (sp?) at the hands of USC; neither of us did well in the football pool.

My thoughts are with all those in Texas, Louisiana and everywhere else who took a beating from Ike. I have read the horrors that many of these people have gone through and I have read many comments on other blogs and in news stories where people are constantly bitching that the government should not allow coastal living and how insurance companies should not cover those of us who choose to live on the coast. Just for the record, circumstances brought me to the coast and my job keeps me here. And I want someone, anyone to find a place for me and my family to live that is 100% safe from Mother Nature. Yes, hurricanes are horrible and scary, but so are tornadoes, mudslides, wild fires and freak blizzards, and we always get plenty of notice before the storms reach us. Ike killed people across the country and caused flooding in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Where do you holier than thou people expect us to live?

NCAA Football Week 2
In the first Florida/Miami match up of the Urban Meyer era, Florida managed to score on the first drive of the game, lead the entire time and finally break an 0-6 losing streak over the past 23 years.
Which is not to say they looked good doing it.
The first drive was awesome. After that? Eh, so so.
Florida did not score again until a punt block just before half time netted them 2 points for a safety.
After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Florida seemed to come alive, wakeup, pull their heads out of their ass (pick your term) and score 17 points.
Final score 26-3.
I am not a football analyst. I barely know the I formation from the Wishbone (ok, I just learned what the Wishbone looks like over the weekend), but I can recognize sloppy and my beloved Gators looked sloppy on Saturday. My brother (still not an analyst, but knows more than me) says Coach Meyer did it on purpose. Florida has a bye this week before travelling to Knoxville to take on Rocky Top. My brother says that none of Florida's weapons were showcased last week and now the Vols have no idea what the Gators actually have in their arsenal. Let's hope he is right and that they use their arsenal many many times into the checkerboard endzone.
Tennessee looked awful against UCLA; I am not sure I could stand the humiliation if my Gators were to lose to them!

Another One for Aug 30th!
Go Gators!
Football season finally got under way in the Swamp and, while my Gators did not look wonderful in the 1st quarter, they did manage a 56-10 win over the University of Hawii. Of course, you should have watched the game, but you can read about it at Gatorzone.
Next Saturday the Swamp plays host to the GameDay crew and the University of Miami Hurricanes (because we all need more hurricanes in our lives right now). I would have to look it up to make sure, but I do not think that Florida has beat Miami in the last 20 years.
Hopefully this is the year. It should be a good game.

Little Bits of This and That
* I am thoroughly enjoying the Olympics. I didn't expect to. I figured I would be bored, but I spent hours Saturday morning trying to understand this sport called Handball and I have been glued to the TV most evenings.
* My followup at the doctor's last week gave me a clean bill of health. No more problems. Now, I just get to wait patiently for the next 2 weeks until my ablation. But I have plenty of leftover drugs, so I am not really worried about having any pain.
* The situation with Georgia and Russia confuses me. I know my understanding of foreign affairs is slim. I don't take the time I probably should to understand. But, didn't Georgia attack last week? And isn't Russia fighting them to stop the attack? Then why is our government (Dubya) fussing at Georgia? How is this different from what we did in 1990 with Kuwait and Iraq? How is this our business? If Central America attacked Mexico, wouldn't we help? And tell anyone who blasted us for it to butt out?
* Why was Dubya able to take the weekend off to hang out in China with the Olympic athletes? Didn't he have anything better to do? Aren't we at war? Isn't our economoy in the toilet? And, yet, ol' dipshit has time to hang out with the beach volleyball team?
* And, isn't it tacky to go to China for the Olympics, blast them on Human rights issues (like we have any room to talk) and then STAY? Probably taking advantage of the poor people who now have to feed you and clean your room. I made DSD turn the channel every time that asshole was on my TV.
* I love my job, but, frankly, I am sick and tired of the territorial BS that comes from working with women.
Ok, that's not fair. While I do find it easier to work with men (not so catty), one of the women I work with is not very bright, not very organized and guards her work with some sort of weird secrecy like I may take over her job also. I have plenty to do, thanks, I don't need hers also.
* Lola has been wonderful. I just wish I had some idea how to make her sleep past 6 on weekend mornings!

* I love my job, but, frankly, I am sick and tired of the territorial BS that comes from working with women.
Ok, that's not fair. While I do find it easier to work with men (not so catty), one of the women I work with is not very bright, not very organized and guards her work with some sort of weird secrecy like I may take over her job also. I have plenty to do, thanks, I don't need hers also.

My problem with this article, then, actually has nothing to do with Tim Tebow. My problem is two-fold.
#1. Don't the Florida legislators have anything better to do?

Super Boring Sunday? (Upated on Monday)
I have my appetizers made for the Super Bowl party we will be attending later today. Good people, good food, good times. Normally I am as vocal about the game as I am about my political beliefs (no one asks me about those anymore), but I really don't care about tonight's game.
I liked Eli Manning when he played for Ole Miss, which is weird, because he is the only Manning to beat my Gators and he did it back to back seasons. But I had a great deal of respect for him.. until his NFL draft when he turned into a whiny, little daddy's boy who refused to play for San Diego. I would smack my son if he acted like that publicly. So, I am having a hard time thinking about cheering for the Giants.
Then there is the New England Cheaters, I mean, Patriots. The coach was caught cheating last summer, the quarterback was cheating on his pregnant girlfriend (it doesn't get much tackier than that) and they are playing on Super Sunday for the, what?, fourth time this decade? They should have been prohibited from post-season play after last summer's debacle. But that is why I like college football.
So, I have to cheer for the whiner and not the cheats, but, really? I'd rather stay home and watch a movie.
Oh, well, hopefully the commercials will be great.
UPDATE: Wow! What a game! I think the last time I actually enjoyed a SuperBowl this much was 2003, but that is because the Buccaneers won. Since I had no real feeling for either team, I could appreciate the great plays on both sides. I would have enjoyed it even if the Pats had kept Eli and company from scoring that last TD. I was glad the Pats "perfect season" was killed and that the cheaters didn't win.
Sadly, there was too much party in my Super Bowl and I was late to work this morning AND am not feeling too well. I am normally much better about controlling my libations (DSD was driving, so that wasn't an issue), but it must have gotten out of control at some point. And I have a college class tonight, so I won't be going to bed early. :-(

A Dream Come True!
As I sat in my office yesterday around 11ish, contemplating the weekend with no football, contemplating next week's Super Bowl (who cares?), contemplating the long, hot Spring and Summer with NO football, counting down the MONTHS until kick off, my phone rang. It was DSD who wanted to read me an article from the local newspaper. An article with the MOST AMAZING news! About, you guessed it, FOOTBALL. Spring Football.
There is a brand new football league. The All American Football League is holding its first ever draft as I type this. It is not available on TV in our area, so I am watching/listening to it online (instead of doing my Business homework). New football. More football. Spring Football. The first game for the new league will be held 12 April and the Championship game will be held 4th of July weekend. How awesome is this?
I know what you are thinking, remembering the USFL, the XFL and the ridiculous Arena Football league (which has played22 seasons!). This is different, much different and hopefully, much better. This new league is not trying to compete with the NFL or NCAA football. But they are not trying to re-invent the game either. They are playing in the Spring, using NFL officials and a combination of NFL and NCAA rules, mainly NFL, but the OT rules will be those of NCAA except the line of scrimmage will be the 35 yard line instead of the 25. The league, the AAFL, is trying to compliment the systems that are already in place AND use the fan base of teams already in place.
So far there are just six teams. Team Florida, Team Alabama, Team Arkansas, Team Tennessee, Team Michigan and Team Texas. Each team is allowed to protect (pick up before the official draft) the players who played college ball in their state. Team Florida and Team Texas only get the players from their state, because those states have so many college teams. But Team Alabama gets the players from Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi and Team Michigan gets the players from Michigan, Indiana and Illinois (so we know which team Shel from Yah Sure, You Betcha will be cheering for!). Here is the kicker: All players must have received a college degree and exhausted their NCAA eligibility to qualify for the AAFL. This league is not trying to compete for the great college players, it wants them only after they have completed their college careers! And, let's face it, at an annual salary of $50,000, they are NOT going to compete with the NFL.
So who are we going to see playing in the new league? Great players who, for some reason or another, just didn't make the cut in the NFL. Team Florida has the 2006 BCS MVP, QB Chris Leak. Chris was not drafted in the 2007 draft and was cut from Chicago before pre-season. He loves the game and is a great QB, but he is, well, short, for the NFL. So, he has signed on to Team Florida, where he will put back on the Orange and Blue and play again in the Swamp! Does life get any better than this?
Yes, many of the teams will be playing in the state's college stadiums. Team Florida will play 10 games, with 5 home games. Three home games will be played at the University of Florida's Ben Hill Griffin stadium, one will be played at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and one at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. (Is that where the Buccaneers play?) Let's hear it for spreading the love around state. Tickets are fairly cheap at $53 for 50 yard line seats and only $93 for skybox tickets (already sold out for Team Florida).
The only glitch in my overwhelming happiness is that DSD is not interested in sitting in the hot sun in Gainesville in June and wants a skybox. But you have to buy a minimum of four tickets to buy the skybox tickets and that is going to get expensive, plus we only need two tickets. (He is currently napping in front of the TV since the weather here is so crappy there is not a lot else to do and does not know that the skybox tickets are sold out!) This is football. If I want to sit in an air conditioned room with strangers to watch the game on TV, I will go to a bar down the street, it is MUCH cheaper!)

Setting the Record Straight.
Just for the record, this is LSU's second BCS National Title this decade. The BCS Sucks, but it is supposed to be the only title that counts. USC has had ONE BCS National Title and ONE AP National Title so it is not the same thing at all. There are not 2 teams with 2 National titles this decade; there is one. If tOSU had won last Monday night's game, there would have been one team with 2 national titles.
Sure, USC got screwed in 2003, but Auburn got screwed in 2004. That is the nature of the beast we call the Bowl Championship Series. Get over it.

I Guess I was Wrong!
Well, I published yesterday's post before the game to keep myself honest and I am glad that I did. I don't think I would have changed my story anyway (since I am wearing an OSU sweatshirt), but sometimes I am sneaky like that.
So, OSU played better than they did last year, but they didn't look any better. Were they outplayed? Was LSU just a superior ball team? Why would you ask me? I obviously am clueless when it comes to college football.
It was a sad time in the Left household last night. At least last year (when OSU was whipped by Florida) ONE of us was happy at the end of the evening. Last night we both sat there in scarlet and grey and got quieter and quieter and quieter. We didn't even see the last TD; we went to bed with just under 2 minutes left to play. We are pathetic.
And yet there really is a tiny portion of me that was thrilled that the SEC had such a great showing. Not just in last night's game, but throughout the bowl season. Nine of twelve teams played in a bowl game, 2 in a BCS game and 7 of those WON (enter smartass comment about Florida's loss here)! And it is nice that the SEC brought that crystal football back to the conference. This is the 4th SEC Championship since the dawn of the horror that we call the BCS. This is the third this decade. There is always a lot of discussion about the "best" or the "toughest" conference and the SEC has a lot going for it to answer those challenges.
But, can we play another conference for next year's Championship? Or, at least, another team? The Left household sure would be a lot happier!

Who Shall Prevail?
In case I haven't mentioned it (or you didn't see the pictures), I am a girl/woman/female type, etc. While I have no complaints about the situation (and neither does my new husband), it has limited my education in some ways. I was almost 30 before anyone explained the "righty tighty, lefty loosey" thing to me. I did not spend a significant portion of my youth (or adulthood) looking at pictures of naked women in magazines. And I never played organized football. (That one game of flag football in high school was in no way, shape or form 'organized'!)
While I did learn a lot from sitting on the sidelines, whether it was watching my brother's team or cheering on the Pee Wee squad, or dancing to the fight song as part of the band (I twirled a flag, I am not musically inclined) I know there are things I just don't understand about the sport. Part of that includes the different types of offenses and defenses and the actual plays themselves. There are even some positions that I can't remember if they are on offense or defense. It obviously doesn't matter to me or I would learn more and it does not impair my enjoyment of the game. It does, however, make some of my analysis pure B.S.
Having admitted my shortcomings, I want to publicly declare that I am tentatively taking The Ohio State University in tonight's BCS National Championship Game. I am hoping for a good game, a fairly close game and I want tOSU to win it all. Not possible? Am I crazy? Maybe, but maybe not.
Exluding 2004, the underdog has won the Championship each year since 2000. Five out of six times. Both teams have incredible defenses and both teams have solid offenses, so what does that leave as the deciding factor? Drive, stamina, desire and coaching. A lot of the players for the Buckeyes were on last year's team and were humiliated in the desert by an undeserving Gator ball club (Go Gators!). They remember, they want revenge. They want to prove they deserve to be playing in this game. They want to erase the memories of last year's debacle. They want to show the world they are champions. LSU? They were anointed in August and, while they have known adversary, they have already been crowned King of 2007. The Bucks don't stand a chance (if you listen to the press).
The main factor here, in my humble opinion, is coaching. Les Miles has never coached in a game this big. This is Jim Tressel's 3rd National Championship game in Div 1A and he coached Youngstown State to 4 titles in D1AA. He has the battle scars. He has been in the trenches. And he, too, was humiliated in the desert last year. He wasn't prepared for Florida's speed, for their power or for their desire to prove themselves. So, his team wasn't prepared. Jim Tressel (my opinion here) is a man who learns from his mistakes and he will not make the same ones again. OSU is 0-8 against SEC teams, but Jim Tressel is 0-1. I think he ties that up tonight!
Plus, I am now officially a Buckeye by marriage. DSD was raised close enough to the OSU campus to watch football practice after school. When tOSU changed from grass to turf in the 70's his dad sodded their entire front yard with endzone sod. DSD saw Archie Griffen play in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena one of the years Archie won the Heisman. Things were tense at our house during last year's Championship game. They will be tense again tonight, but it is nice that we are on the same side in this one!

Happy New Year!
Yes, I know, I am a couple of days late.
Sadly, my New Year didn't start out as wonderful as I had hoped. My son has been looking for a job since 1 Nov when the company he was working for declared bankruptcy and shut down. He was promised a job before Christmas, but we told it wasn't going to happen on New Year's Eve. He was bummed and grouchy.
DSD and I had a fight at lunch on New Year's Eve. We had had dinner plans (and reservations) for New Year's Eve with another couple who backed out at the last minute and he thought it would be boring for just the 2 of us. Yes, he said that and my feelings were hurt, so I got mad. We kissed and made up (according to him that wasn't what he meant, but it was what he SAID, so how was I supposed to take it?), but I wasn't going out to dinner with him then.
Then, of course, on New Year's Day my beloved Gators forgot to play defense against Michigan and Coach Meyer kept trying to get Tim to play pitch and catch with Percy Harvin, forgetting that there were other players on the field. A sad, sickening loss.
So, I moped. I whined. I sulked. And, yes, I cursed.
Then I realized I was acting ridiculously. It was a game. Sure it was sad that we lost, but the schools still get paid by Capital One, the kids got to be on TV, heck, Michigan players, fans, and band got to spend New Year's in Orlando! And, we, as a nation, are at war. People are freezing to death and starving to death in this country. Children are abused. And I was obssessing over a football game?
So, I pulled my head out of my ass and got over it. I love Gator football, but a loss is not the end of the world; it doesn't even really have world wide conseqences.
I just hope I can remember that next season......

The CrimiNoles do it again
As a FANatic of college football, in general, and the University of Florida, specifically, the Florida State University is way down on my list of loveable teams. When friends have told me that I am to NEVER cheer against an in-state team, I say, "Eff You." I am so sick and twisted that there are very few things that tickle me more than to see FSU players and coaches get themselves in a little trouble. (That does not count illness or injury, that whole Sexton, lyme disease, poor kid thought he was Jesus was heart-breaking). So, it was with a tremendous amount of glee that I saw the news story that 36 FSU players would not be attending the Music City Bowl. There are numerous reasons listed, but the main one is cheating. On an exam for an online class. In Art History. How stupid could you be?
It never even crossed my mind that FSU would beat Kentucky in this bowl game. Kentucky has one of the best teams in the history of that school (during the last 20 years anyway) and FSU, well, they stink. But I am not even sure they will SCORE on the Wildcats. And the game should be over in the first half, because they have no replacements if their starters get tired.
This is a team who went from mediocrity to National Champions (much like my beloved Gators) in the 90's. The new milleniumm, however, has not been great for the 'Noles and it does not appear to be getting better. Is it possible that it is time for Bobby Bowden to retire? Does 2 pretty bad seasons in a row mean that he has lost it? Is this a younger man's game? (Some say yes, some say no.)
I certainly don't have the answers. All I know, for sure, is that FSU has managed to embarrass itself once again. And I am tickled by that. Tickled blue & orange.

This is a team who went from mediocrity to National Champions (much like my beloved Gators) in the 90's. The new milleniumm, however, has not been great for the 'Noles and it does not appear to be getting better. Is it possible that it is time for Bobby Bowden to retire? Does 2 pretty bad seasons in a row mean that he has lost it? Is this a younger man's game? (Some say yes, some say no.)
I certainly don't have the answers. All I know, for sure, is that FSU has managed to embarrass itself once again. And I am tickled by that. Tickled blue & orange.
